25 days of Christmas: God's promises

Day 2: His word is flawless
"As for God, his way is perfect:
The Lord’s word is flawless; he shields all who take refuge in him."
Psalm 18:30 (NIV)

A few years ago, Brad and I went through Focus on the Family's The Truth Project. I have to admit, that while I grew up in a Christian home and attended Tabor College, this video presentation was the beginning of a time of real growth for me.

College was a good start, but this video series really got down to the heart of faith: Truth.

We live in an age where truth is relative. My "truth" will vary from your "truth" and so on. Through this, we end up believing that nothing is solid. And, for me at least, that lie spewed its way into my faith.

But The Truth Project brought that lie into the light. It made me realize that to be a Christ-follower, I must commit to believing God's word is the ULTIMATE truth. No exceptions.

On the surface, that might seem constraining. But really, it's not. In fact, it's freeing. Because once you believe in something as ultimate truth, the rest of your thoughts and actions become based on something solid.

In God's word, we find perfection. In God's way, we find perfection. In God's shield, we find perfection.

And, as the The Message paraphrases today's verse, "Everyone who runs toward Him makes it." Let's hold on tight to that TRUTH today!
