Happy Birthday, Gracelyn!

Two years ago, Brad and I arrived at Newton Medical Center at 6 a.m., ready for a scheduled induction. We had just experienced a long pregnancy (see post "Hope does not Disappoint"), and we were excited to finally meet our little girl. After a day full of hard & fast contractions (thank you Pitocin) the time finally came.

Gracelyn Abigail was born at 5:05 p.m. weighing in at 6 pounds, 1 ounce & 19 inches long. She had a lot of dark hair (where did that go?), and Brad and I thought she was perfect:

While memories of the first months are a little blurry (thank you sleep deprivation), we adjusted quickly to our new family of three and could hardly remember life as it was before the night feedings--well, the constant feedings--and the joy Gracelyn brought to our home.

Before we knew it, we were celebrating Gracelyn's first birthday. Gracelyn's Aunt Kelli took the following photo (plus at least 100 more) to mark the occasion:

Year two was quite a journey for our family, but more about that later. Gracelyn grew and changed in miraculous fashion between 12 months and 24 months. Her vocabulary blossomed, and now we can communicate & understand each other (most of the time), making life just a little easier.

She started walking shortly after her first birthday, and now she's a fast little runner (I guess she will take after her mommy...track spikes here we come)!

Gracelyn also loves to read, play outside, go for walks (particularly with her best bud, Addison) and watch Elmo's World. The following photo was taken a few days before Gracelyn's 2nd birthday (party photos coming soon):

Happy 2nd Birthday!
