Jemma's cake

May has been horribly busy. Mid-week last week looked like this: MBY Wednesday eve, track meet Thursday, Grandma's funeral Friday, my sister's graduation party/graduation Saturday, Jemma's birthday party Sunday. All worthy events...just all at the same time!

As you can tell, there was little time for birthday prep this time around. I had to make Jemma's cake the DAY OF her party. Never again! While making GRACELYN'S CAKE was fun and relaxing, I was stressed to the max, as I didn't begin frosting the cake until 2.5 hours before the party was to begin. I was still working when guests began to arrive.

Despite that, I like the overall look of the cake.

This is Jemma's "smash cake." I used a mini cake pan to make it. I think having that size of pan on hand will be fun for future decorating sessions with the girls.
