I need a flashlight
First, I just have to share the ways God brought strength to me yesterday when I was weary and discouraged. Just about 30 minutes after writing this blog in tears, my Dad showed up at our door. He brought donuts and a strong desire to play with his grandchildren. While he played, I napped...and my bad mood vanished.
Then, my mother-in-law texted and offered to clean my house. Yes, you read right! So when she got off work, she set in on the upstairs, putting the girls' huge mess away. No easy task. But it sure made me less stressed!
I love how God used people in my life to make good on his promise of strength! Where have you seen God fulfilling his promises this month?
And now,
Day 12: Forgiveness
"If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth. But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness. If we claim we have not sinned, we are calling God a liar and showing that his word has no place in our hearts." 1 John 1:8-10 (NLT)
I often think we are a society that is really good at hiding our shortcomings...and parenting is no exception. How often do we pretend like our families are perfect when we are in public, only to feel like we are drowning behind the closed doors of our homes?
There is so much freedom in the truth. When we are honest with others about our trials, we can often find a sympathetic ear and some good advice through common experience.
The same is true with God. He is waiting for our honesty...and he knows when we try to hide.
But confession doesn't bring heartbreak, instead it brings forgiveness and understanding.
May I never hesitate to shine some light on my darkness(es).
