Finishing Touches: The Kitchen
Kitchen before, taken a few weeks after moving in:
Way back in February, we decided we HAD to tackle a large kitchen project. The cabinets on our north wall were pulling down, leaving a large gap at the top.
Once they were down, Brad and I determined that we had some angels holding up the cabinets. Only short nails were used on the backs...I don't even like to think about it! They are now well-anchored, thanks to Brad and his dad.
We also decided to work on painting the cabinets. We chose Almond Cream by Behr.

Most of the cabinets are painted, except for one corner, which we plan to transform into a pantry plus one glass front cabinet to display my antique Pyrex. I'm not sure if leaving them unpainted was smart or not...it seemed like a good idea at the time, but it's a slow-moving project...and who knows when it will be complete!
A couple weekends ago, I had the whole house to myself. I decided to tackle the brown trim. It is now pure white, after 3 coats. It might even need another...
I chose to put one coat on the door, as we plan to spray it. Brad says it looks worse, but for me, it gives a glimpse of what is to come.
I'm also bummed that the windows in the kitchen are taupe, and pretty sure the two aren't the same shade. Not sure what to do about that except hang some white curtains. Guess I didn't really pay attention to that until it was such an obvious difference.
Finally, this is where I am now...choosing paint colors. I want a rainy day blue (so a gray undertone). This will also be used in our master bedroom, so it needs to be soothing. So far, none of my samples have popped for me, though I'm starting to lean toward one over the others.
Any opinions?
I like the very top left blue! It's got a little bit of the happy turquoise in it.
